3 Tips for Making Regular Business Travel Less Stressful

Some people dream about that big sales position or the corner office. A lot of times, however, these positions come with regular travel. Top sales professionals can spend as much as 50% of their time away from home. That’s a tough schedule. We’ve put together 3 tips to help business travelers make the most of their demanding schedules.

make business travel less stressful1. Pack-and-Go Suitcase

Many business travelers recommend purchasing a special suitcase just for business travel. If you have toiletries and personal care items, such as a trimmer or curling iron that you use every morning, buy separate ones to always keep in this suitcase. Also purchase additional bottles and packages of your favorite toiletries just for this suitcase. That way, you don’t need to rush around packaging things up and rushing out to buy refills at the last minute. All you have to do is add clothes!

2. Automate

Try and have as many processes in place ahead of time as possible. If you have a pet, arrange care for him or her ahead of time; make sure there are always food and treats on premises, as well as any other necessities for sleeping, medicine, or entertainment.

Is someone handling your home and post? Talk to a friend or neighbor ahead of time about when would be a convenient day for them to drop by and bring your mail inside, water your plants, and check that everything is OK. When people know what they’re expected to do ahead of time, things go much more smoothly and you have (at least) one less thing to worry about. All you have to do is inform them of the dates you’ll be traveling – everything else is squared away.

3. Get There Safely

Not all planes and trains leave at the same time, so it’s difficult to automate rides. As we’ve covered in a previous post, parking at Logan Airport can be tricky at best. For someone who travels frequently on business, this can become a costly adventure. In the interest of your wallet and your sanity, consider hiring a car service to handle your transportation to South Station or Logan Airport. Your wallet will thank you and your car will remain safe at home – where it can be checked on by the person handling your post.
